February 1 – Thinking it was a fun game, Kaelynn imitated Samuel and put herself in time-out.

January 31 – After one last fun morning together, my friend and I headed back to our home states. I had introduced her to Shipley’s over the weekend (my favorite doughnut shop ever) and we stopped by on our way out of town to pick up some of the delectable treats for our families.

January 30 – Day three of scrapbooking! Here you get a glimpse of my friend (top)and me (bottom) with our hotel room setup!

January 29 – Day 2 of scrapbooking! I love developing a vision for a page and then watching it come to life. Like with photography, it is one of only a few activities that I can completely lose myself in.

January 28 – Due to a substantial front of winter weather headed in our direction, my friend and I made the decision to leave a day early for our weekend of scrapbooking together. Our goal was to make it into town before the participation began to fall. This is what the winter advisory forecast looked like as I prepared to leave early this morning.

We all have those days…or weeks. “Not Me” Monday was created by MckMama to give us an outlet to laugh at our own imperfections. Will you join me? When you are done here, you can head over to her blog and read about what everyone else has “not” been doing.

I did not recently have this conversation with my 4yo son in my hopeless attempt to break him of the southern accent he appears to be developing.
“Mommy, can I help ya?”
“May I help you.”
“Mommy, can I help ya?”
“May I help you.”
“But I want to say ‘ya’!”
“No Samuel, you need to say ‘you’.”
“But why? Can I please say ‘ya’?”
My husband and I did not remove a huge stack of unfiled papers from our file cabinet and plop them on the floor in an attempt to motivate ourselves to do the necessary filing. We would never create a mess in attempt to motivate ourselves. That would be wholly unproductive. And after two weeks of the mess of papers on the floor, I did not finally stuff them back into the “to be filed” section of the filing cabinet. Nope, not me!

And last, but not least, on my scrapbooking-girls’-weekend-away, you could not have found us carrying card tables into our very nice hotel. That would just be weird!
What did you not do this week?

January 27 - Samuel and I were feeling a little sentimental about not seeing each other for four days, so we decided to do something fun together and bake cookies for him and Scott to eat while I’m gone. I told him what ingredients to add, but he made them almost completely by himself! Now if only I hadn’t burned half the cookies… My activity idea must have worked, though, because he later asked me if I would leave after his nap today instead of tomorrow morning.

January 26 - This coming weekend, I’m meeting a friend of mine in a mutually adjoining state for a fun weekend of scrapbooking and girl time! I’m horribly behind on my scrapbooking and am determined to make the most of this opportunity. 250+ pictures, 28 layouts, 60 pages, and countless pieces of paper later, I am ready.

January 25 – Samuel and I spent some time coloring trains this afternoon (his latest passion).

January 23 – We took the kids to a friend’s birthday party today. It was a cooking theme! The kids made little pizzas, fruit snowmen, and “dirt” (Oreos with gummy worms and Cool Whip). The family had made personalized aprons and hats for each of the kids! Samuel and Kaelynn had a blast! Hands down, the coolest kid’s birthday party I have attended.
